Conditions & Participants
For our first November parkrun of 2022, we had warm conditions, with temperatures in the 60s. We got a few showers early in the morning during course setup, but all was dry by the time we got underway at 9am. Ten parkrunner veterans came out to take on the course this morning.
This week we celebrated two personal bests! Congratulations to Adam and Melissa on running their best times on the Third Creek Greenway course. Adam bettered his previous best by 6 seconds! Despite just joining us for the first time this May, Adam has already managed to rack up 19 parkruns. We’re looking forward to celebrating his 25th run before the year is out.
Melissa took 34 seconds off her previous best time and was our first female finisher. This is Melissa’s second time finishing first and her 13th parkrun. Congrats!
On the men’s side, Martin was our first male finisher across the line. Adam and Martin were close throughout, but Martin went for it in the second half. He finished in 23:59, exactly matching his existing PB on the course.
Complete results from this week’s parkrun can be found here. If you have never been to a parkrun but are considering it, give us a try. All you need to do is register for a personalized barcode and be sure to bring a copy (digital or printed) along with you. And don’t worry, registration is free and always will be!
Volunteer Call & Appreciation
Thanks to all of our volunteers who made this week’s parkrun possible - Meredith Hale, Nancy Henry, Caryn Hughes, Evelyn Talmy, and David Talmy. Evelyn has joined us for several parkruns in the last two months, but will be heading back to England. Thanks to her for always being willing to tail walk and to help us be successful with the parkwalk campaign by acting as a parkwalker.
If you’d like to volunteer at a future event, please email email@example.com. We can always use more volunteers and will make sure you find a role that’s fun for you. Our required volunteer roles are run director, barcode scanner, timer, tail walker, and event day course check/set up. To time or scan you simply need to download the parkrun Virtual Volunteer app and show up to parkrun early for some brief training. If social media or photography are your thing, there’s also an opportunity to help out using your creative skills. See our future volunteer roster to help us fill in our gaps. We’re also trying out a new spreadsheet that you can enter your name in ahead of time to help us plan for events further in the future.
We are back next week at 9am! Don’t forget to register and don’t forget your barcode . . .
Note that we won’t be holding a special extra parkrun on Thanksgiving day. We’d encourage local runners to sign up for the Regal Knoxville Turkey Trot.
Since launching on October 26 2019, Third Creek Greenway parkrun has had 303 individual finishers and 54 individuals volunteering.
