Halloween . . . Report 87

Conditions & Participants

For our second ever Halloween celebration, we had six parkrunners come in costume. We had a sloth, unicorn, taco, Ghostbuster, skeleton, and Spiderman! Thanks for embracing the fun of costumes. In total we had fourteen parkrunners complete the course.

This week we celebrated four personal bests! Congratulations to Alexander, Mark, Michael S., and Michael K. on running their fastest times ever on the Third Creek Greenway course.

Alexander completed his fourth parkrun with us and took off 49 seconds off his previous best to finish the course in 18:35. He has run a personal best every time he has come out since first joining us in May. This week he was also our first finisher. He has finished first three times, making him tied for 9th on our first finishers list.

Mark also ran a PB this week. He took 23 seconds off by completing the 5k in 23:35. It’s great to see him running well while conservatively working through a hamstring injury.

Michael S. continued his PB streak by shaving off another 21 seconds off his previous best. His time was 25:02 - soon we’ll see him break 25!

Michael K. ran his fastest time by 25 seconds. His finish time was 26:48. He did this with a stroller in tow!

On the female side, kudos are also due to Rebekah Berg for being our first woman finisher. She ran a time of 27:49 while sporting a sloth costume. She definitely isn’t slow!

Congratulations to everyone on these great times and to everyone for coming out and making progress towards their goals. Complete results from this week’s parkrun can be found here. If you have never been to a parkrun but are considering it, give us a try. All you need to do is register for a personalized barcode and be sure to bring a copy (digital or printed) along with you. And don’t worry, registration is free and always will be!

Volunteer Call & Appreciation

Thanks to all of our volunteers who made this week’s parkrun possible - Meredith Hale, Caryn Hughes, Jeanne Stokes, and P Mark Taylor.  If you’d like to volunteer at a future event, please email thirdcreekgreenway@parkrun.com. We can always use more volunteers and will make sure you find a role that’s fun for you. Our required volunteer roles are run director, barcode scanner, timer, tail walker, and event day course check/set up. To time or scan you simply need to download the parkrun Virtual Volunteer app and show up to parkrun early for some brief training. If social media or photography are your thing, there’s also an opportunity to help out using your creative skills. See our future volunteer roster to help us fill in our gaps. We’re also trying out a new spreadsheet that you can enter your name in ahead of time to help us plan for events further in the future.

This week we also want to take a moment to recognize Caryn on reaching her 25 milestone for volunteering! Caryn is the fourth individual at Third Creek Greenway parkrun to reach this milestone. She has served in every volunteer role, from run directing to time keeping. Thank you so much for all that you do for the parkrun community.
