Another warm morning did not prevent 14 participants from crossing the finish line. Six of them were visitors from the UK, including our first three finishers. Samuel from Worcester, England was on his way to take up a track scholarship in Indiana and blazed through the course with a time of 17:26. His dad Edward came in third. Also from the UK were David and Wendy from Wales as well as Melanie and Dave from Black Park Parkrun near London. It was also great see some of our regulars. Congratulations to Hannah on a new PB. Thanks as always to our volunteers. Interested in volunteering? Why not give it a try? We will see you next week at 8 a.m.
Event #125: Hot & Humid
Conditions and Participants
A hot and very humid TCG Parkrun this morning: weather apps were suggesting it was 80° and 88% humidity before we’d even started (although both felt higher!), and it only got hotter as the sun got higher. A good turn out again this week – 19 people crossed the line (20 if you include the occupant of a stroller, but they don’t get an official time).
We had another 4 first-timers this week: welcome to Hannah D, David, Dianne and Megan, we hope to see you again soon.
Results
We welcomed back 3 of last week's first timers who finished strongly again this week: Bradley Adams was first across the line, with Hayden not far behind him, Emery was our first female finisher.
Emery’s second time out, and second time as our first female finisher.
5 of our finishers clocked up personal bests: congratulations to Hayden, John, Courtney, Michael, and Hannah M.
Volunteer Call & Appreciation
Thanks to all of our volunteers who made this week’s parkrun possible – Caryn, Christopher, Avigail, and Jeanne.
We are short of volunteers in August, if you’re able to help please email thirdcreekgreenway@parkrun.com. See our future volunteer roster to see the gaps that need filling, or check out the volunteer spreadsheet where you can enter your name in ahead of time to help us plan for events further in the future.
We can always use more volunteers and will make sure you find a role that’s fun for you. Our required volunteer roles are run director, barcode scanner, timer, tail walker, and event day course check/set up. To time or scan you simply need to download the parkrun Virtual Volunteer app and show up to parkrun early for some brief training. If social media or photography are your thing, there’s also an opportunity to help out using your creative skills.
Since launching in October 2019, 64 different individuals have volunteered to make the TCG Parkrun happen.

Event #124: First-timers, Visitors, and PBs
Conditions and Participants
Another humid TCG Parkrun this morning, but what a great turn out – 23 finishers this week. A great group of Parkrunners and Parkwalkers.
13 of our named finishers were completing TCG Parkrun for the first time.
Of those 7 were completely new to Parkrun; welcome to Chantel, Brandon, Dustin, Gabriel, Hayden, Emery and Bradley – we hope to see you again soon.
We had 6 visitors; Kathleen, Savannah, David, Isobelle, Ashley and Michael – we hope you enjoyed the course (even if you did find it a bit hilly and a bit humid!). Of our visitors, we had 1 Knoxville native visiting home from Durham, England, and two Scottish Parkrunners who now live in Texas.
We also had two first-time Parkwalkers – we hope you’ll sign up and join us again some time.
Results
Alexander was our first finisher, this was his 10th time completing our course, and 9th time coming in first over the line.
Emery Adams was our first female finisher on her first ever Parkrun (and she would have clocked up an even faster time if it hadn’t been for a slight confusion about the route on the last stretch). Our other junior first-timer Hayden also clocked up a fast time. We look forward to seeing you both next time out.
Three of our field clocked up personal best times today – congratulations to Aubrey, Jim and Kristina.

Event #122: A New Record
The results are now live. https://www.parkrun.us/thirdcreekgreenway/results/latestresults/
It was an exciting event #122 with 18 people finishing the course. No one expected a course record to fall on such a warm and muggy morning, but Reagan Smith, visiting from Rec Plex North Parkrun in Pensacola, arrived with her sights set on the female course record set by Rachel MCGOVERN – 19:58 – Event 79 ( 3 Sep 2022). It was a race against the clock and in the end, Reagan set a new record with a time of 19:55. Way to go Reagan!
We had two people running their first ever Parkrun (welcome Aubrey and Craig) and four folks with new PBs. We also had three children catching a ride in strollers.
Join us next Saturday at 8 a.m. to see whether any more records fall.
As ever, thanks to our volunteers: Caryn, Nancy, Mark, Martin and Meredith.

A milestone: Report #121
Conditions and Participants
Another hot and humid morning. We were lucky that the forecast thunderstorms didn’t arrive. We had 9 finishers this week including 2 visitors – welcome Ashton and Alan, we hope you enjoyed our course. We had a bark-runner, 6-month old Nila completing the course for her first time, and definitely taking the prize for cutest (and friendliest) finisher this week.
We had a milestone - one of our regular finishers, Melissa, clocked up her 25th finish. Parkrun celebrates finish and volunteer milestones with 25 being the first adult milestone recognized. Melissa is now eligible to proudly wear a purple 25 T-shirt.
Results
Ashton, one of our visitors, took first place and was our first female finisher in a very fast time of 23:58.
Alan, our other visitor today crossed second and was our first male finisher.
Michael and Courtney, back for their second Parkrun, once again challenged our timekeeper by crossing the line together.
