PBs and a “Vol for Life” Tourist…Report #91

Conditions & Participants

We had lovely weather for our last parkrun in November. Nine participants came out to join us for this Thanksgiving weekend parkrun. We had one newcomer and tourist - David. He’s from Alabama, but is a self-proclaimed “Vol for Life.” It was great to meet you and we hope we did a proper job of introducing you to parkrun.

Welcome David!

This week was marked by our first two parkrunners across the line, Adam and Amanda, both running personal bests in addition to taking home first male and female finishers. Adam ran 43 seconds faster than his last parkrun to finish in 23:44. Amanda took a minute and eighteen seconds off her previous best time. This was also her 23rd parkrun finish (her 25 milestone is around the corner!) and her first time making the first finishers list. Nicely done both!

Rain & Cookies…Report #89

Conditions & Participants

While we avoided any major downpours, we had a steady sprinkling of rain this Saturday. Four veterans came out to complete the course. Mark also showered us with chocolate chip cookies - which were amazing! We were also excited to see the third bridge on our course got a little tune up. It now has three new boards in place. Thanks to Parks and Recreation for this improvement!

Two Milestones … Report #86

Conditions and Participants

Another lovely, sunny fall day for our 86th event at Third Creek Greenway.  We had 10 finishers, 1 visiting volunteer, and celebrated 2 milestones and 1 PB.  Marcus celebrated his 50th Parkrun finish - 24 of them here at Third Creek Greenway.

Our second milestone celebration was our tailwalker, Kristie, who was visiting us for the first time from Joe Creason parkrun in Louisville, KY.  It was lovely to meet you, Kristie, and thank you for volunteering with us.  This was Kristie’s 25th time volunteering at Parkrun and Kristie is also only one more finish away from her 25 finishes milestone (tailwalking is a great way of getting two credits in one – a finish and a volunteer credit).  We look forward to hopefully seeing Kristie again sometime.

Results

Our first finisher, Karen, clocked a personal best time of 24:29 knocking 45 seconds off her previous PB.  Adam was our first male finisher in 24:57.

Volunteer Call & Appreciation

Next week's parkrun

We are back next week at 9am! Don’t forget to register and don’t forget your barcode . . .

Throughout October we’ll be participating in the global parkwalk campaign. While we strive to always be welcoming to walkers (there is absolutely no such thing as going too slow or holding us up), we’ll be highlighting walking at parkrun during the month of October in a few ways. When possible, we’ll have multiple tail walkers instead of just one. In addition, if you plan to walk at parkrun and want to promote the inclusivity of our event, you can ask to wear a park walker vest. While this campaign lasts only in October, we plan to continue to grow and change to be even more inclusive to walkers.
