Event #31
Although it was a chilly morning, everyone that gathered for parkrun brought the warmth with their smiles!
Our Run Director Morgan Drabik-Hamshare arrived early and performed the event day course check. The lack of hazards resulted in one of her fastest times running a 1/2 mile! Anyone can volunteer to do the event day course check and is a great option to keep warm!
We welcomed 8 finishers including 2 first time finishers. In her opening announcements, Morgan called attention to International Women's Day which on March 8th and the fact that more women register for parkrun and never show up compared to men. It was fitting then that our two new first time finishers were women! Congratulations on finishing your first parkrun and welcome to the parkrun community!
Read below for some cool stats and photos. Full results can be found here.
First Timers & Tourists & First Time Volunteers
As mentioned above, we had two first-timers today. Erin Castello and Diane Loeffler joined us this morning.
We welcome each of you to the world of parkrun. You are each valuable members of our community. We hope that you join us again soon!
There were no tourists today, and no new volunteers.
Milestones & Celebrations
Morgan reached her 25th volunteer milestone this week. She has volunteered for 94 tasks at 25 Osborn MetroPark parkruns! She enjoys giving back to the community on a weekly basis. Since volunteering at Osborn MetroPark parkrun she feels happy and healthier!
PBs & Age Category Records
We celebrated one PB today! Heather Merckens finished at 32:23. Well done, Heather!
There were no age category records today.

Post Event
Everyone who participated in parkrun received a special treat this week: maple syrup pancakes! Thanks to Erie MetroParks, we joined in the festivities of the Maple Sugaring Day where park staff educated participants on the cultural importance, art, and science of harvesting maple syrup from maple trees. We look forward to this event again next year!
Next Week
This Saturday is our event #32.
Come meet us at Osborn MetroPark, near the Frost Center, to join in on the fun. Please arrive around 845am for a 9am start, and make sure you invite anyone that you know that might be interested; friends, family-members, colleagues, neighbors, etc. Runners, joggers, walkers, and dog-walkers are all welcome at every one of our events. If you are a first-timer, look out for the First Timers prompt board to learn how parkrun/parkwalk works. We hope to see you there!
There are several roles still available for each of our next three weeks. Please check out the volunteer roster for future weeks to see where we could use some help! If you are interested, please get in contact with us via our email address (osbornmetropark@parkrun.com), or using our Facebook page.
