Osborn MetroPark parkrun #28

Event #28

We cancelled our event last week due to the extreme cold conditions. This meant that Justice was delayed. However, conditions were much better this week (as you can tell from the photos below), and so Justice was served! By this, we mean that Justice reached his first official parkrun milestone, completing his 25th parkrun!

Curt Fleming was our Run Director today, and presented Justice with the famous purple '25' parkrun milestone shirt, along with a card signed by many parkrunners over the past few weeks. This shirt is usually only available to purchase once a person has completed their milestone. However, the Core Team of volunteers ordered one early especially to present to Justice.

Justice was joined by four members of his family - all of whom completed the parkrun. This meant we had 23 finishers - our highest amount since our inaugural. This amazing group of people were joined by our awesome team of volunteers, and five barkrunners!

First Timers & Tourists & First Time Volunteers

We had five first-timers today. Esmeralda Valles, Fallon Powell, and Kelly Evans joined us for the first time, and each brought along a cute barkrunner. Justice's mother (Kim Foreman) and father (Walter Foreman Jr) also completed their first parkrun.

We welcome each of you to the parkrun community. We hope you all enjoyed your first parkrun, and that you join us again soon!

There were no tourists today, and no new volunteers.

Milestones & Celebrations

As mentioned above, we had our first ever official milestone from a participant that started their parkrun journey at Osborn MetroPark parkrun. Justice Foreman finished his 25th parkrun. Justice finished in first place, something in which he has done on 17 occasions!

We also had a few unofficial milestones. Beth and Brian Schwartz both completed their 15th parkrun; Jason Werling finished his 10th; and Walter Foreman completed his 5th. Under 18s actually have a milestone at 10 parkruns, so Walter is only 5 away from reaching his first milestone! Curt Fleming, Sherry McDonald, and Valerie Deehr all volunteered for the 5th time.

PBs & Age Category Records

There were an impressive 6 PBs to celebrate this week. Tom Striggow, Heather Merckens, Morgan Drabik-Hamshare, Brianna Cheek, Carol Simpson, and Michelle Martinek all beat their previous best times! Incredible!

Morgan Drabik-Hamshare also set a new age category record, shaving off 1 minute and 48 seconds from her previous best effort in what was Morgan's 11th finish at Osborn MetroPark parkrun! That is very impressive!

Post Event

Several of our parkrunners and volunteers met up for coffee and delicious food at Vine & Olive on 250. Feel free to join us there after each event. Every coffee and gyro consumed at Vine & Olive is well-earned!

Next Week

This Saturday we will be looking to continue our impressive streak of double figure finishes. Come join us there and be part of pur parkrun event #29.

We meet near the Frost Center at Osborn MetroPark at around 845am for a 9am start. Please invite anyone that you know that might be interested; friends, family-members, colleagues, neighbors, etc. Runners, joggers, walkers, and dog-walkers are all welcome at every one of our events. If you are a first-timer, look out for the First Timers prompt board to learn how parkrun/parkwalk works. We hope to see you there!

Our Run Director is still TBD, though we should be covered. All other major roles are also covered, though we could do with a Marshal (non-mandatory). Other available roles include photographer, parkwalker and a second Timekeeper.

The following weeks have several other roles that remain vacant. We are still looking for a Run Director for 02/18. If you are interested, please get in contact with us via our email address (osbornmetropark@parkrun.com), or using our Facebook page.

Please check out the volunteer roster for future weeks to see where we could use some help!
