For parkrun #71, our 8:00am start was appreciated by everyone who came out to run & walk this morning. Mansfield along with much of the country is dealing with the sizzling temperatures. Hey, its summer in Ohio this is what we expect, warm & humid conditions.
With forty five participants, including jr. runners who came out to run with parents & friends, youngsters who got the pleasure of being out on the trail in strollers, our walkers & runners plus our one barkrunner Lucy, it was a great morning for parkrun.
Mark Craig & Tom Priess came to run & visit with us this morning. Mark is from England & his parkrun is Milton Keynes. Tom was in from Michigan & his parkrun is Livonia. As Tom was over in Canton to visit family, he decided to give Mansfield's parkrun a go & go he did. Tom came across the finish line first with a time of 18:18! Considering the humidity & the temps in the mid 70's, it was quite an achievement. Candice Cochran was a first timer who joined us from Galion. Candice said she enjoyed parkrun & that we'd see her again.
We welcomed four new friends to our volunteer roster this morning. Logan Montgomery who has run parkrun in the past with his Mom, decided this was the week to help instead. Logan, passed out finish tokens & gave everyone High Five's & words of encouragement as they came across the finish line.
Dave Falquette & Stana Shogren were our tailwalkers & Ed Thigpen was photographer. Thanks to them & our devoted crew for making #71 parkrun possible.
This week 45 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 6 were first timers and 12 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 2 different clubs took part.
The event was made possible by 11 volunteers:
Linda KLINE • Sharon KOCHHEISER • Chris SCHOLL • Jon FULWIDER • Logan MONTGOMERY • Bob KLINE • Nelson SHOGREN • Stana SHOGREN • Hudson CULP • David FALQUETTE • Edward THIGPEN
