Run Report #218 – junior RD & more 1st timers!

Embracing the COVID recovery environment, we welcomed 67 at Fletcher's Cove on a hot and humid Saturday!

parkrun is free, for everyone, forever, all enabled by a merry band of volunteers who provide this opportunity every week.

Anyone can volunteer, as demonstrated on Saturday by Bella, a senior high school student, who took on the role of Run Director.

We are always on the look out for new volunteers - it is a rewarding experience and you can work your way to one of those special purple parkrun t-shirts.

Ask one of the team anytime and we'll find a role that works for you - many of which you can get a run in as well.

We welcomed 7 first timers this week, continuing an uptick of new participants since parkrun started here again at Fletcher's - word is obviously getting around, so thanks to all of you who have shared information of our event.

Please do take the opportunity to say hello and provide any advice - you may find yourself in friendly competition with others who run, jog or walk at a similar pace, which is a brilliant means to work towards that next PB, improve fitness and enjoy some social banter.

We do try and remind you with a prompt on social media the night before, but do please try and remember to bring your barcode with you - you can download yours free from the parkrun website and print out.  If you want something more permanent, you can order a laminated barcode or a wrist band via the same website.  Having your barcode handy makes it so much easier for the volunteers and allows for a smooth finish routine.

Speaking of those volunteers, thanks this week to Bella as our Run Director who was ably supported by Alex, Dan, Steven, Nancy, Zama, Michal, David, Rob, Neil, Katherine & Nica!

We are planning to be part of the celebrated annual Palisades 4th of July parade and would love our parkrunners, as many as are able, to join us on the Sunday and walk the parade route.  If you have a parkrun milestone shirt or a parkrun Apricot, please wear it!  As with our weekly events, dogs and strollers - more the merrier!

We will meet at Whitehaven and MacArthur by 1145 on Sunday 4th July - bring water!

See you next week!  Matt
