Fletcher’s Cove parkrun, Event number 200

The first of several huge milestones was reached today at Fletcher’s Cove as we hit our second century of parkruns. 200 parkruns! That was an invocation for us to dig out the songboard last seen at our 100th and give or take a few adaptations, belt out another rendition of our milestone song - well sung, heartily sung, parkrun fellows!

Our second milestone is just a short hop, skip and jump away as we will soon celebrate Fletcher’s Cove parkrun’s 4th birthday - mark your calendars for Saturday, Jan 11th…more singalongs! More cake! The more celebration and merrymaking the better!

Our parkrun story @ FC started on 9th January 2016. Since then 2,917 people have completed 11,708 parkruns covering a total distance of 58,540 km. That’s the equivalent of us running the full circumference of the earth one and one third times. Wow! And a total of 313 individuals have volunteered 1,856 times.

Those are our institutional milestones, but today we also rolled out the red carpet for a favorite personal milestone as  we welcomed Nancy Edson to the coveted 100-club. Hip Hip Hooray, Nancy!!

This week 73 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 14 were first timers and the event was made possible by 12 volunteers:

Andres Falconer • Dan Owen • Giulio Iacoviello • Kai Oltmanns • Linda Rahal • Alice Bender • Matt Churchward • Lisa Evely • Rob Kempsell • Michael Nelson • Kathleen Doherty • Elizabeth Nelson

Your invitation to sign up to volunteer never expires. Keep volunteering, keep the train rolling...

And finishers were treated to a sumptuous array of exquisitely beautiful cookies and cakes, thanks to the labours of Nancy E. and Jolante B! - Nancy's 200 baked cookies were parkrun-compliant colour coded!
