Fletcher’s Cove parkrun #199 Run Report

Fletcher’s Cove parkrun #199 Run Report
The weather certainly took its toll on the turnout for Fletcher’s Cove run #199 this past Saturday. This cold and wet weather did not prevent 43 parkrunners making their way up and down the towpath to complete another free, timed 5km at the most scenic parkrun in the DMV area.

This run was made possible through the wonderful volunteers on the day, Matt C, Andres F, Alex F, Rob K, Edward K, Kai O, Phil P, Brenda P and Linda R. Thank you as always to our volunteers. Did you know some of the volunteer roles allow you to get a run credit and a volunteer credit on the same day- marshal and tailwalker?.. Did you know, even if you can’t make it to parkrun on a particular week. you can still volunteer? (run report writer and Volunteer Co-ordinator). All the roles are easy to complete and you will be ably supported by a team of experienced volunteers to help you every step of the way.
Please sign-up on the whiteboard on Saturday mornings or speak to the Run Director or any of the volunteers if you interested to try.
It is an exciting time to parkrun at Fletcher’s Cove with a number of special events taking place. Please diarise the following dates:
- 21 December marks the 200th run at Fletcher’s Cove. Rumours of cookies and cake and a singalong to mark the event are floating around.
- Fletcher’s Cove regular Nancy E will be celebrating 100 runs at her next event. Will it be this week? Stay tuned to next week’s run report to find out or show up this Saturday to witness her receiving the special milestone cape.
- 1 January 2020 at 10:30 Fletcher’s Cove will be the second part of the New Year’s Day Double if you completed Kensington parkrun at 8:30 that same morning. This marks the rare occasion to complete two parkruns on one day. Or two volunteer roles on one day!
- Fletcher’s Cove 4 th anniversary? You heard me right! The celebrations continue the following week with another celebration.
Fletcher’s Cove parkrunners gather every Saturday for our post run coffee at Black Coffee on MacArthur Blvd and we will celebrate all these amazing milestones at the venue too. Please join us this Saturday once again, come experience the amazing Fletcher’s Cove parkrun community and reward yourself with a cookie for finishing another 5km run, walk or stroll.
