Seventy-seven runners and walkers completed Fletcher’s Cove parkrun #187 on this beautiful, cool and clear fall day. We welcomed 12 new runners, as well as 7 anonymous athletes whose accomplishments today will go forever unrecognized. (Don’t forget to register and bring your bar codes!) Of the other 51 participants, more than a third had new PBs, and one (Kerstin Fagerstrom) tied her all-time best.

Twelve volunteers made Parkrun possible this week: Matt and Kate Perkins, Sedwyn Anthony, Andres and Stefania Falconer, Ethan Wolin, Alex Foxley, Edward Kitt (parkrun #187 Champion), Emma Impavido, Terence Dunbar, Laura Bruce, Michael Bender and, to a lesser extent, David Silver.

If you haven’t volunteered recently, we still need four volunteers for next week, and we have dozens of slots to fill in October. Timekeepers, Scanners, Finish Token Dispensers, Funnel Managers and Photographers get to rest their legs and cheer on the finishers, while Volunteer Coordinators, Run Reporters, Marshals, Tail Walkers, and Results Processors can run/walk and volunteer at the same time.

* Note: Timers and Scanners should download the Parkrun Virtual Volunteer for Iphone or Android.

Today we had roughly one volunteer for every 6 runners. That means that if each of us volunteers just once for every six times we run, parkrun Fletcher’s Cove can continue to be the premier free 5K event in Northwest DC. You can always check volunteer needs here: https://www.parkrun.us/fletcherscove/futureroster/. Drop us an email to add yourself to the roster for a future date or sign up next Saturday on the whiteboard.
