Spring has sprung at Fletcher’s Cove parkrun. Sixty parkrunners and walkers and 10 volunteers celebrated the return of leaves and blossoms along the canal and a US parkrun first on Saturday. Stefania F. was the first US under 18 to complete 100 parkruns and did it in style by notching a personal best! She joins Mom and Dad in the 100 club.
Some puddles remained from Friday thunderstorms, but this allowed our younger runners to demonstrate the approved parkrun puddle technique. The sun came out mid-run to warm us up and kept us warm for coffee outdoors at our post-run coffee spot, Black Coffee.
Many thanks to the volunteers that made the event possible: Roberta, Michael, Alice, April, Susan, Martin, Mat, Darrell and Ethan. Special recognition to first-time volunteers Ethan (timekeeper) and April (tail walker).
As you know, parkrun depends on volunteers. Please consider volunteering at an upcoming parkrun by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You can check out available volunteer positions at https://www.parkrun.us/fletcherscove/futureroster/.
On Saturday, we had five first-timers to parkrun. Welcome Maria, Kathleen, Mongameli, Michael, and Beau –we hope to see you again! Five parkrunners had personal bests. Congratulations to Jeffrey, Josh, Ellis, Isabella, and Stefania.
