A sunny, blustery day on the canal saw 47 finishers at Fletcher’s Cove parkrun on Saturday. We had one first-timer to parkrun (welcome Dianna!), an unknown runner (don’t forget to print and bring your barcode!) and 45 returning runners. An impressive third of the field was relatively new to parkrun -having completed less than 10 runs. We are glad you are making parkrun a habit. Six runners and walkers notched personal bests for the course. We also had a bumper crop of happy parkrunners joining us for our regular post-run coffee at Black Coffee on MacArthur Boulevard.
Steven S. became our third 50 run finisher in the last two weeks. Next on the milestone horizon are Filippo I., who will qualify for his junior 10 run milestone shirt at his next parkrun and dedicated volunteer and all-around good person Linda R., who will qualify for her volunteer 25 shirt the next time she volunteers.
Thanks to the volunteer heroes who made parkrun possible this week –Alice, Rodger, Jolanta, Maddie, Dan, Andres, Nancy, Linda, Shaffick, and Roberta. You can be a hero too –just e-mail email@example.com to let us know what week you can help. You can also nominate a non-running or walking spouse, parent, or significant other as a volunteer. They will have the satisfaction of mastering a fun and easy volunteer task and you will have enlarged your personal cheering section.
Pictures from the week are here - https://www.facebook.com/fletcherscoveparkrun/ -(under photos, click “see all”, then select the Fletcher’s Cove parkrun #162 album). Those who can identify the birds will claim a valuable prize. If you are still enjoying the photos from the March 16th special St. Pat’s day parkrun (album #161), bonus points will be given for identifying the many barkrunners pictured there.
