College Park Turkey Trot 2021

What: College Park Turkey Trot 5K.

Organized by College Park parkrun, in partnership with the City of College Park, Prince George’s County Parks, and the University of Maryland.

When: Thursday November 25th, 9am.

Where: Acredale Community Park, College Park, MD. 4289 Metzerott Rd.

The route follows a flat out-and-back route along the beautiful Paint Branch Trail. Everybody sees everybody else along the way, providing plenty of opportunities to cheer friends and neighbors. The 5K course is USATF certified, if you care about that kind of thing.

Cost: It’s totally FREE! But you do need to register ahead of time, if you don’t already have a personal parkrun barcode.

Registration: To get a free personal parkrun barcode, register at It takes just 2 minutes. Print out the barcode, and bring it with you to the park. Easy!

But what do I get for my $0? A beautiful route, great people, and a warm, healthy glow to start the holiday. You’ll also receive an email with your timed results before the turkey is cooked. And maybe even free photos to download by the time you’re working on leftovers.

There are no medals, t-shirts, prizes, or other swag. It’s all about the healthy community.

But as a first timer, you do get to strike the Golden Gong!

Who: Really, everybody. Walk, run, ride in a stroller.

Kids aged 4 upwards can register for a parkrun barcode. Kids under the age of 11 should stay with a parent or other responsible adult.

Dogs are welcome, on a short leash. Only 1 dog per person, please.

Will I finish last? No! We have volunteer tailwalkers whose job it is to finish last. We offer an ironclad you-will-not-finish-last guarantee. We'd make it a money-back guarantee. But, well, it's free.

Volunteers: The event is 100% organized by volunteers from the same community that organizes College Park parkrun every week, year round. Want to help out? Drop us a line at

Parking: Limited parking at Acredale Park is likely to fill early. Additional free parking is available at UMD Lot 11b, adjacent to the Paint Branch Trail and the XFinity Center. Also at Bowlero College Park across Route 1/Baltimore Ave.

Public transportation: Metro is on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving. It’s probably not feasible for getting to the event. Fine for getting back afterwards.

Community coffee/brunch: After the event, at Bagels ‘n Grinds in College Park (map). All invited! (The stuffing can wait.)

Cool! I wish this happened every week! You’re in luck. It does! College Park parkrun takes place 9am every Saturday, year round. Same location. Same warm vibe. Same one-time registration. Same unbeatable price. Over 20,000 happy finishers since 2016. We'll be back on Saturday November 27th, and every Saturday after that (this year, including Christmas and New Years).

It’s like an all-year-round Turkey Trot!
