Our parkrun report comes to you this week from distinguished international visitor, Dave FOX, of Gunpowder parkrun. With 109 runs to his credit, Dave has participated in Clermont parkrun eight times. Thank you, Dave, for volunteering as our report writer this week…
My home parkrun is Gunpowder, north of London, England...named after the munitions testing range previously on the site! It's always a welcome change to leave behind English winters and visit my "2nd home parkrun" at Clermont Waterfront when staying at my Kissimmee vacation villa. Up early for my usual pre run banana and coffee, then a 50 minute drive to beautiful Lake Minneola. As usual there are a mix of locals, international and US visitors.
After stretching and briefing, we are off. 105 runners and walkers, including 18 new to parkrun plus 4 Clermont first timers. My first run without winter kit for a few months. A pleasant lakeside out and back course. As with all parkruns, good support and encouragement from volunteers and fellow runners. The post run water is much appreciated - kindly supplied by Frances and Larry.
Clermont VM60-64 age group record holder Hector CLEMENTE did a neat volunteer/run combo...taking photos at the start, doing a fast run, then back to his camera for finish photos.
Special mentions for top finishers:
Mens: 1st Brock DAVIS 18:46,
2nd Joe BARRY 18:54, 3rd Sean LYDEN 19:13.
Ladies: 1st Adair Lyden 20:01 the same time as her only previous parkrun,
2nd April GELLATLY 22:04, 3rd Joah WILTSE 22:53.
Thank you to all the helpful friendly volunteers. I look forward to returning next week!
