Event #1, September 14, 2019

Happy parkrunday! A beautiful, clear sunny morning greeted the participants and volunteers who gathered today at Byxbee Park in Palo Alto for the very first Byxbee parkrun. Thank you to the 130 people who walked, jogged and ran the course. See this week’s results at: https://www.parkrun.us/byxbee/results/latestresults/

Run Briefing

The run director addresses the group at the first Byxbee parkrun

A special thank you to our 12 volunteers who helped make the day a success! We need volunteers every week and it’s fun, so let us know if you’d like to help out next week. You can see the future roster here: https://www.parkrun.us/byxbee/futureroster/

We were welcomed to the parkrun USA family by Darrell Stanaford, the USA Country Manager and Treasurer. Thanks for travelling all the way from Baltimore to visit us Darrell!

We had visitors from other parkruns, many of whom were passing through and made plans to come and join our launch event. It was a pleasure to meet Malden Vickery, visiting from South Africa, who ran his 249th parkrun with us, and will soon be joining the 250 Club - well done Malden!

For many of our participants, this was their first experience of parkrun. We look forward to seeing you again next Saturday at 8am for a free, timed 5k!

A reminder, always hand back your finish tokens, we re-use them every week. If you accidentally took home token number 88, 94, 95 or 126, please bring it with you next week, or contact us at byxbeeoffice@parkrun.com so we can arrange to collect it from you.
