Perfect parkrunning weather for Run 91 along the Mighty Anacostia! We welcomed 33 runners and walkers and celebrated a few things. First, Mike completed his 50th parkrun! Ian and Anna completed another 5K before they ran from the first to Anacostia to complete the FREE one. Diana D was our 100th First Finisher! We celebrated 9 PBs and we used the phone app for timing and scanning for the very first time! We had some new volunteers and a tourist from Richmond, VA, and our London Tourist, finished first!
Anacostia parkrun will not host an event on New Year's Day. Please join the fun at another area parkrun or join the Mayor at her annual 5K.
Anacostia parkrun will not have a Thanksgiving day parkrun. Please use this time to be a Tourist and visit College Park or Kensington!
This glorious day saw 40 people walk, run, and or jog along the Mighty Anacostia! In this fabulous weather, we had 5 true first timers, 3 tourists, and 6 PBs. The stroller who crossed first came in at 20:58 and our beautiful tailwalker crossed at 64:37 which means the average time for all of our parkrunners/walkers was 35.01.
A few notes of reminder:
1. No parkrun next week, 1 June. The path is in use by another group. Use this time to check out some of the other parkruns in the area - when they ask where are you from, make sure you let them know you are from Anacostia!
2. If you are so inclined to give back and volunteer, we can really use you this summer and you would be so, so appreciated. Let us know if you can volunteer, we would love to have you as part of the team!
Thank you to everyone who comes out and joins our parkrun, you are what make parkrun so fabulous!
A gorgeous day - a gorgeous river - a great turn-out with both many Anacostia first-timers AND 14 parkrun first-timers -but wait - there's more! We had not one, but TWO 100th parkrun milestones! CONGRATULATIONS to Ted Poulos and Anacostia parkrun founder Darrel Stanaford who both joined our 67th race for their 100th - Woo Hoo! Anacostia parkrun hit our own milestone of 59 runners and walkers, and that's NOT counting all of the wonderful little ones who joined us in parkstrollers including two week old Miss Ada who came with Anacostia regular Tona and her husband - she completed her first 5K and was working very hard lifting her head in Daddy's arms to see what she had just done! A SPECIAL sing-out to participants of the Breast Cancer support Making Strides who joined us as part of their ongoing "staying fit" walking workouts - please keep parkrun on your walking calendar. Today's event ended with all enjoying the yummy assortment of celebration baked goods brought by Darrel & Svetlana Stanaford - Thank You for initiating Anacostia parkrun !
