Durham, NC parkrun Event #89 – March 14, 2015

What a day for a run in the park! No ice, no snow, and no sub-freezing temperatures to deal with today. Instead, we had temperatures of 45° with a light rain for today's three-looper. (Standing water kept us off of the two-loop course and forced us to deal with that hill one extra time.) After all the cold and bad weather and cancellations of the last few weeks, we really couldn't have asked for anything more.

Eleven runners came out this morning. First finisher for the ladies and overall was the young and talented Tori Swepson, who also earned herself a PR by knocking more than two minutes off of her time from last week. She also had the highest age-graded score at at whopping 75.72% - and she did all this despite having a late night at a school concert! Tori wasn't the only member of the family to achieve a PR. Dad Victor Swepson dropped a very impressive 1:45 off of his time last week.

Kevin McCabe finished out of the men's field and enjoyed a leg-stretcher before he heads for a trail marathon tomorrow. Also heading to a marathon tomorrow is volunteer Adolfo Neto. Good luck to both of you!

Speaking of volunteers, many thanks go to Adolfo Neto for handling the watch today, Tom Griffin on photo duty, Gordon Keeler for chalking the course, Martin Warters for helping with tokens and scanning once he got his breath back, and William Schmitz for our weather report. Without them, parkrun just wouldn't keep going like it has for nearly 21 months of Saturday running joy!
