We had a small but wonderful group turn up this morning, thanks mostly to all of that rain last night and this morning. We'll get to that in a moment. First, a list of who's who in the "I'm not afraid of a little water" camp: Martin Warters crossed the line first for the men, followed shortly by first-timer (and our first Brazilian!) Adolfo Neto, then die-hard Gordon Keeler, and Bill Harris. The only lady running the three-loop course today was Julie Messina (why yes, it does feel strange to refer to myself in the third person). There were no PRs this morning.
The wonderful volunteers who laughed in the face of potentially ugly weather were timer Melinda Beaver, photographer Tom Griffin, and barcode scanner Carlos Webb. They were assisted by chalker and runner Gordon Keeler and weatherman William Schmitz. Thanks, y'all, for making parkrun possible this morning!
The rain was the main threat weather-wise this morning, rather than the sub-freezing temperatures that we've been fighting on Saturday mornings for a few weeks. Fortunately, it politely held off until we finished and just left a few puddles behind. With a temperature of 36° and a windchill of 33°, it was our first parkrun above freezing since January 3. Perhaps the weather wasn't ideal, but all of today's runners and volunteers can probably all agree that it certainly could have been much worse.
